Hello fellow full moon fans! I know that I’m a bit late as the Super blood wolf moon was almost a week ago, but I wanted to share with you what I usually do on a full moon.
This blood moon sadly wasn’t a great experience for me: I woke up at 5:40 am where I live (I usually wake up at 7 am) to watch it only to discover that it was too cloudy and I couldn’t see it – so back to bed I went. On that day I was also really busy so I either didn’t have time to do my rituals, I forgot to do them or I had to rush through them which wasn’t great either. But here’s what I usually try to do!
Cleaning/sorting through my room
Now I partly only do this because I really dislike tidying my room (though I feel much better afterwards) and doing it as a ritual helps me to do it. Also, it’s good to thoroughly clean my room once a month. But I also do it because full moon is the time to let go of things that don’t serve you anymore. For some time now I have lived with the thought that I own way too much of everything: clothes, books (of course only those I don’t read anymore), crafting utensils I don’t use anymore, jewelry and just tons of boxes filled with small things I won’t ever use again. This situation partly occured because I just got everything that my older siblings sorted out through the years, but also because it’s hard for me to say goodbye to things, even when I haven’t used or worn them in a long time and probably won’t again. So for the past 3-4 months, on full moon, I went through all of my stuff and sorted out what I really don’t use anymore. What I have sorted out hast been alot – but I still own far too much! Slowy, it’s getting hard to sort out things because what I have left are the things I couldn’t say goodbye to the last few times… But I’m working on it and I feel relieved every time I let go of something that’s just been collecting dust on my shelf for the past years.
After letting go any negativity or things you don’t need anymore, it’s just logical to cleanse afterwards. You can do this however you like, by smudging, with candles, with music… Afterwards, you can set the energy right with a full moon affirmation.
Cutting my hair
As I said before, full moon is the time to get rid of things that don’t serve you any more. That’s the reason why I only cut my hair on a full moon! My hair is about shoulder length and I like to keep it that way. I obviously don’t cut it every full moon, just every second or third to keep my hair healthy and at the length I want. There are also people who believe that cutting it in the waxing phase of the moon (=the moon getting fuller) promotes hair growth so it’s better to cut it in the waxing phase rather than the waning phase when hair growth is said to be slower.
I obviously know that none of this is scientifically proven, but I just really like rituals and I always feel much more euphoric when I do it on a full moon than on a ’normal‘ day.
Making moon water
Moon water can be used to enhance potions or spells, it can be added to you bath water or you can simply drink it. All you need to do is fill a clean glass container with water, bless it if you like or charge it with the energy you want to attract, then place it in an undisturbed place during the night of full moon, preferably outside. Afterwards, you can use it however you like!
And that’s it for today! I hope this is helpful on the next full moon. Please exuse if it takes some time to upload my next article, I’m really busy at the moment and writing these articles takes longer than I expected! I’ll do my best, though.
